Environmental Awareness Training (4 hrs)
This workshop is designed to be an introduction to environmental awareness, and will assist participants in understanding and identifying the environmental risks of site specific activities, products, and services. Topics covered include personal responsibility to the environment, an overview of the legislation, environmental risk management, and acting beyond legislative compliance.
 
Environmental Awareness for Leaders (4 hrs)
This workshop is designed for managers with a direct responsibility for the environment in which they are working. The course will answer why managing environmental risks is important, discuss environmental penalties and legislation, and provide participants with a 'toolbox' for ensuring due diligence with respect to environmental compliance and best management practices.
 
Environmental Technician Summer Monitoring Course (4 days)
This program focuses specifically on summer fieldwork monitoring, and covers topics from Legislative Requirements to Summer Monitoring and Wilderness Survival Techniques. A field workshop is included in the program, where participants will cover water sampling and streamflows, Dustfall and Soil Sampling, and site inspections/ spill kits.
 
Environmental Technician Winter Monitoring Course (4 days)
This program focuses specifically on winter fieldwork monitoring, and covers topics from Legislative Requirements to Winter Monitoring and Wilderness Survival Techniques. A field workshop is included in the program, where participants will cover water sampling and stream flows, snowpack readings, and site inspections/ spill kits.
 
Community Resource Industry Training (2 hrs)
Blue Heron will deliver the 2-Day workshop in the Blue Heron Training Facility, or at an agreed upon location. Participants of the workshop will receive printed workshop documentation and a course completion certificate. Where appropriate, the course will include discussion and breakout groups, as well as practical exercises to support subject matter presentations. The course will be scheduled between 9 am and 4 pm (with a working lunch provided to attendees).
 
Industrial Hygiene Technician Course (2 days)
This program gives participants an overview on all aspects of industrial hygiene. The course aims to improve quality and standardize the way data is collected, improve workplace health and safety, and increase worker satisfaction in the sampling process. A wide range of topics includes what is involved in the work; how to initiate, conduct, and close a sampling program; analyzing operations and exposure data; the importance of maintaining quality data; and articulating the nature and goal of sampling to workers.
 
Introduction to Environmental Management Systems (EMS) - Short Course (1/2 day)
This workshop is designed to be an introduction to environmental awareness, and will assist participants in understanding and identifying the environmental risks of site specific activities, products, and services. Topics covered include personal responsibility to the environment, an overview of the legislation, environmental risk management, and acting beyond legislative compliance.
 
Environmental Coordinator Workshop (5 days)
In this practical and hands-on workshop, experienced environmental specialists will teach participants how to turn legislative requirements into management strategies that can be used on the job everyday. Some of the topics covered include:
• Understanding the role of the environmental profession within the framework of a modern day mining operation • Navigating the permitting process for mining and exploration projects in Ontario 
• Understanding legal requirements, and
• Setting up and managing environmental compliance and monitoring programs.

Environmental Regulations and Compliance in Ontario (3 days)
This program provides an analysis and discussion of the environmental regulations and compliance guidelines within Ontario. An overview of environmental legislation, permit requirements, and environmental management requirements will be covered in the course, and participants will be given a 'compliance toolbox' for ensuring the best management practices concerning environmental compliance programs.
 
Mining Environmental Technician - Short Course (1 day)
The Mining Environmental Technician Short Course offers an overview of key environmental regulations and permitting requirements associated with water monitoring, with a focus on how to implement various conditions and the subsequent reporting that follows. The course also reviews various water quality mintoring programs, how to conduct a proper mine site inspection, as well as spill response and reporting. Finally, the course explores sampling criteria and techniques used in the field, with special consideration given to safety, quality assurance, reporting and proper equipment.
 
Spill Prevention, Contingency, Response and Report Planning (SPCRR) (1 day)
This program is intended to assist industrial site operators in the development and implementation of site-specific Spill Prevention, Contingency, Response and Reporting (SPCRR) Plans. The course will address:
• Legislated requirements related to the development and implementation of SPCRR Plans
• Provide operators with templates and useful tools in SPCRR document development, and
• Assist participants in designing spill mock exercises and training programs for their facilities. Practical exercises are included to support classroom learning.

Spill Response Basic Training (1 day)
• This program combines classroom sessions with practical workshops, and covers a regulatory overview, safety when responding to spills, technical aspects of a spill response, and the technical aspects of a spill cleanup. Simulated exercises on land and in water are included in the workshop.
