Detour Gold Corporation

Community Relations

Dec 22, 2013

Detour Gold is proud to be part of the northern Ontario communities in the area of the Detour Lake mine.

We have established our regional office in the Town of Cochrane to support our mining operation. In cooperation with the Town of Cochrane and our Aboriginal communities, we are building strong and productive relationships together for a better future. We do more than just work with our local communities; we share a home. Together, we will make our communities great places to work, live and raise a family.

At Detour Gold, we respect Aboriginal values and traditions. We recognize the ongoing and historic connection to the land and water that the local Aboriginal communities have, and as such we are committed to fulfilling the agreements that we have signed together. We strive to maximize economic opportunities for the region, to engage the local Aboriginal workforce, and to focus on the creation of meaningful long-term socio-economic benefits for all of us.

Detour Gold contributes to the local economic and social community development through various initiatives. Our corporate philosophy reflects our continued commitment to social responsibility and focuses on education, health and community, environment, and cultural and recreational activities. While we are actively involved in supporting many ongoing and annual events in our communities, we give consideration to other funding requests from registered charitable non-profit organizations, local Aboriginal communities, educational institutions and other initiatives.
