August 1981

The company was incorporated as North Shore Steel Products Ltd., employing three (3) people. Repair service was provided to tire dealers and mining companies in Elliot Lake, Hemlo and Timmins regions.

Spring 1987

North Shore Steel Products Ltd. and Wheel & Rim Co. of Canada joined into agreement to work together in securing INCO Ontario Division contracts for the repair and supply of new mining wheels.

September 1996

North Shore Steel Products Ltd. entered into a joint venture with OTR Wheel Engineering of Quincy, Illinois. OTR is the sole Master Distributor for Titan Wheel International for the after-market sector. The company was then renamed North Shore Industrial Wheel Mfg. This venture allowed our company to have access to Titan's engineering and technical expertise, to develop a new generation of mining wheels.

November 1996

Due to the growing needs of INCO and mining in the Sudbury and surrounding area a satellite operation was set up in Coniston, ON. This location would serve as a distribution & minor repair facility to enhance our service. The ability to stock the fast moving wheels & components for the same day turn around would better serve our clients in Sudbury & surrounding area.

October 1997

With business flourishing we recognized the need to move out of our current location at 1409 Base Line and into a bigger facility, at 215 River Road, a 10.000 square ft. plant This move would make us a fully independent wheel manufacturer. Our capabilities now include mig, submerged arc welding and the ability to manufacture up to 63”diameter wheels.

September 1999

North Shore Industrial Wheel established a new plant in Woodstock, ON. The main focus for the plant would be to manufacture wheels, distribute tires & supply mounted tire/wheel assemblies to small & medium sized OEM’s. This would also better service our current client base in southern Ontario giving them improved turn around time for wheel repairs & wheel component deliveries.

November 1999

A new tire mounting & wheel/tire distribution facility was set up in Lachine, Quebec, OTR Montreal. The motivator behind this venture was to supply Thomas Equipment with all their skid steer tire/wheel assembly needs. We would also be in a better position to serve our current aftermarket clientele, develop new OEM & aftermarket business in Quebec as well as to service & expand our clientele in the east coast.

April 2001

An action plan was put into place to become ISO 9001-2000 certified by September 2002. We are on schedule to achieve this goal.

Aug 2002

North Shore Industrial Wheel achieved the goal of becoming ISO9001-2000 registered and upgraded our CWB certification to CSA 47.1 Division 2.1.

June 2004

Due to the growth and increased demands from Sudbury, Timmins and surrounding areas NSIW moved into a larger 14,000 sq. ft facility in Sudbury. This move would give us increased warehousing, new paint line and bake oven to impove quality, through put and reduce turn around time.

October 2006

With the growth of all of our branches we found it necessary to establish a corporate headquarters in the birthplace in North Shore Industrial Wheel. (Sault Ste Marie) This would provide centralized services such as administration, human resources, purchasing, logistics, engineering & technical support for all branches.

October 2008

Stevenson Wheel - Saskatoon,Sask. became part of the NSIW family. This addition to the NSIW Group will greatly assist our expansion into western Canada
