TIMMINS, December 23, 2014 – Dumas is very proud to once again recognize its employees in Timmins and Kirkland Lake, Ontario, for their generous holiday donations to several local charities. This year, they raised more than $11,000, which will sponsor 41 children’s wish lists and provide $1,500 in grocery gift certificates to enable families to purchase Christmas dinner supplies – all distributed under the auspices of North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) as part of an annual Christmas fundraising campaign. Donations will also be made to several additional charitable organizations, including the Yo Mobile, the local food bank, the Good Samaritan, and a women’s shelter.
Dumas’ Timmins-based employees have partnered with NEOFACS for this deserving cause each year since 2008. Thanks to the kindness and effort of employees, their families and friends, hundreds of gifts have been distributed to less fortunate children over the years.
This year, employees from various project sites were quick to submit their donation sheets, challenging colleagues to step up and match their generosity. Once the funds were collected, the shopping trip became a family affair, with some Dumas elves bringing their children along for the trip so that they could experience first-hand how wonderful it feels to fill up the shopping cart and check off the wish lists of many deserving children.
“This year’s campaign was successful well beyond my expectations; the generosity of our employees, no matter the cause, never ceases to amaze me,” shared Shannon MacIver, Dumas’ fundraising campaign lead in Timmins. “It’s so rewarding to be able to spread the Christmas spirit and bring joy to so many deserving children and families.”
Lorraine Charlebois-Thom, Volunteer Coordinator at NEOFACS, expressed her gratitude to the Dumas team, adding that, “it warms my heart to see how generous people have been with their donations – not just big businesses in Timmins, but families and individuals. When I wake up Christmas morning this year I know that there will be a smile on the faces of many kids, youths and Adults. Thank you to everyone who has helped and donated to this campaign.”
