Domes

Dome roofs have offered great visual appeal & clear column-free spans in buildings for centuries. Modern materials, design, manufacturing and installation methods allow almost unlimited dome shapes. Triodetic domes are designed as double curved shells which allow great structural & cost advantages in any span:rise ratio. Triodetic  Stockpile Storage Domes can be provided with elongation, asymmetry, door & conveyor openings, & can be designed to accommodate concentrated & unbalanced loadings in any locations around the world. Ore Dome roofs can be designed to suit square, rectangular or any plan shape. Componentized modular frame systems allow minimum material mass because the frame elements are optimized to match the stresses that apply in each discrete structure location. Triodetic design is based on extensive full scale testing & advanced analysis to prevent buckling.

Dome roofs are designed as a single layer or double layer structure depending on span & loadings. Applied loads are transferred axially through the dome shell, resulting in up to 60% reduction in roof mass versus linear beams that would be required or a pyramid or traditional A-frame roof. Horizontal forces that would normally be imposed by a conventional linear roof at it supports are effectively restrained in a dome by a tension ring around its base. Less roof mass & reduced horizontal forces result in smaller support/foundation requirements. Domes can be built in place where crane access is limited (with or without scaffolding) or can be pre-assembled in a staging area & then lifted into final position, (with or without cladding/glazing attached). Triodetic provides & installs dome cladding using a wide variety of materials & finishes to suit the service environment & visual requirements.
