The Greenstone Gold Mines Hardrock Project Environmental Assessment Approved by Province

Centerra Gold Inc. and Premier Gold Mines Ltd. reported  the approval of the provincial Environmental Assessment for Greenstone Gold Mines Hardrock Project on March 26, 2019 by the Minister of Environment, Conservation & Parks of Ontario with concurrence from Cabinet.  
 
The Federal EA was approved on December 13, 2018 by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Canada.  GGM is a 50/50 joint venture between Centerra and Premier for the joint ownership and development of the Hardrock Project.
 
Greenstone Gold Mines is proposing to build, operate and eventually decommission an open pit gold mine, located approximately five kilometres south of Geraldton, Ontario, at the intersection of Highway 11 and Michael Power Boulevard.
 
The main infrastructure required for the proposed Hardrock Project includes : an open pit mine with waste rock storage area and an ore stockpile. An ore milling and processing plant with a mill feed storage and crushing plant. A tailings management facility and a water treatment facility and a connection to the Geraldton Municipal Sewage Treatment Facility to treat sanitary wastewater. A water distribution system. In addition  a power generation and distribution system will be built along with various other structures required for the mine to operate.
 
The main objective of the 2019 workplan for the Hardrock Project is to continue the process of developing and de-risking the Project, with C$54 million planned to be invested to: advance permitting including construction permit applications; progress detailed engineering; complete an additional 18,000 metres of drilling, targeting areas that are planned to be mined in the first five years of operations, and update Reserves & Resources; and, incorporate the results of the optimization work that was completed in 2017 and 2018, and update the Project economics.
