One Month to Go for The Canadian Mining Expo “THE BIG EVENT” 2019

Come and See the Future of Mining June 5 and 6 2019

Timmins- The Canadian Mining Expo (CME 2019) - The Big Event- one of Canada's largest and most favoured mining shows returns June 5 and 6 at the McIntyre Community Centre in Timmins and will feature all things mining from discovery to production.
 
Things get rolling with Gala Dinner at the Senator Hotel & Conference Centre on Tuesday June 4th, 6 p.m. with cocktails and media interviews. Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. The dinner hosted by the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) Porcupine Branch will feature speakers who are leaders in mining and excellent cuisine from the kitchen of the Senator Hotel. Tickets must be purchased in advance. This is a sold-out event every year. Monies raised through this event go back to the community and mining in the form of bursaries. Each year the event raises over $10,000.00. This is a great evening of Networking. 
 
The grand opening will take place on Wednesday June 5 at 11 a.m. with welcoming remarks from Mayor George Pirie and other guest dignitaries.
 
"The Canadian Mining Expo 2019 is a tribute to the hard working men and women in the mining, mining services and supply and mining education fields in Timmins, Northern Ontario and Western Quebec," said Glenn Dredhart, the President and CEO of Canadian Trade-Ex, the Timmins, company that annually organizes the Big Event. 
 
"The Canadian Mining Expo is a time to celebrate the importance of mining to Timmins and Region," said Timmins Mayor George Pirie, " I commend the men and women of mining and your passion for mining."
 
The Big Event hours are:  Wednesday June 5th 10 a.m. to  6 p.m. On Thursday June 6th the hours of the event are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
Wednesday Activities
This year a First Nations Partnership Pavilion will host the successful partnerships of First Nations and companies providing services to the mines. This is a first-time event. Increasingly the future of mining success involves partnerships. Mining companies and others can learn for the first hand experiences of the partnerships featured in the First Nations Pavilion. The First Nations Pavilion is located across from the McIntyre Curling Rink and is sponsored by the Missanabie Cree First Nations and their many partners.
 
There will be all day outdoors equipment demonstrations and activities in pavilions and indoor display areas. Presentations will be made from the exhibitors from their booth locations. 
 
The McIntyre Centre outdoor grounds will be packed with the latest in mining technology including diamond drill rigs, mining trucks, vehicles and equipment. Over 400 displays staffed by experts in their fields will be in the McIntyre Arena and Curling Rink. 
Timmins and area mining companies will be on hand to discuss their activities and successes. The featured mining companies are Agnico Eagle, Alamos Gold, Gowest, Harte, Kirkland Lake Gold, McEwen Mining, Newmont Goldcorp, Pan American Silver/Tahoe Division, Moneta Porcupine Mines and many others.
 
The reputation of the Canadian Mining Expo, extends internationally. This year a delegation of six German mining services and supply companies will present their innovative technology for the first time at the Big Event. The delegation is coordinated by the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines.
Wednesday Activities
 
Returning this year is the ever popular Northern Jackleg Drilling Contest on Wednesday, June 5  with competition in three categories - Mayors and Celebrities Challenge (11:30 a.m.) ; Women's Novice Jackleg (12:30 p.m.) and Professional  Jackleg ( 3:00 p.m., open to both men and women professional jackleg drillers). Registration starts at 11 a.m or you may register in advance online for the Jackleg Drill competitions. Come out and cheer on the competitors as they vie for prizes and fame.
 
Automation and high tech are becoming an increasing feature in mining. Exploration ventures today rely on drone technology to survey future mining lands. Transport Canada as of June 1, 2019 will require all operators of drones in the between 250g and 25kg class. This year The Big Event features a two-day Transport Canada Drone Pilot Certification course offered by AltoHelix on June 5th and 6th.  You can register online for the drone certification course. The course will consist of field lessons and an in class exam.
 
Studies on the future labour force need indicate that up to 3,000 employees will be needed over the next 10 years in Northern Ontario mining. Explore Your Options in Mining begins Wednesday June 5th at 8 a.m-11:00 p.m. in the auditorium starting with a breakfast session on Diversity in Mining. The session will examine ways of increasing labour force participation in mining.  A session on Youth in Mining runs from 11 :30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the auditorium. During this session employers will provide information on employment opportunities to teachers and students and parents. Job seekers are invited to attend the Northern Ontario Explore Your Options In Mining Job Fair. The Job Fair will take place in the Ballroom from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Bring your resume. The Explore your Options in Mining program is hosted by Far North East Training Board (FNETB) and the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHRC) along with 40 companies looking to hire. 
 
The VIP Miners Social June 5th, 6 p.m. 
There will be plenty of networking opportunities at the Big Event, including the VIP Northern Miners Social at the Senator Hotel & Conference Centre, Wednesday June 5th at 6 p.m. This is by invitation only and the music will be provided by Green River Band, a Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty tribute band.
 
Thursday Activities
For those interested in investing the Promise of Northern Minerals: Billions in the Ground Investor's Forum is a must attend event. The Investor's Forum will be held Thursday June 6th, at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ballroom. It features presentations on the latest investment potential from mining exploration companies. Speakers include Ingrid Hibbard from Pelangio Resources, a company that has begun exploration on properties next to the Dome Underground Mine; Brian Skanderbeg, GFG Resources, a company that has returned promising high-grade results on its Pen Gold and Dore Properties in Timmins West; and Ramon Lorenzo, G.I.T. – Exploration Geologist, with Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. with the Subject being an exploration update for the Golden Highway Project, Matheson, ON, one of the largest land holdings with promising high-grade gold potential. You may register on line for this event. A luncheon will be available for half-price if you register on line.
 
The Aboriginal Forum will be held on Thursday June 6th, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium on the theme of Thriving Together - Building a Shared Future. The Forum is held by the Nishnawbe Aski Development Corporation and is a paid event. You can register on line for the Aboriginal Forum and the luncheon.
 
This year, the City of Timmins will officially declare the week of June 1 to June 7, 2019 "Mining Week" in Timmins. Along with the Canadian Mining Expo this week will prove to be huge for our Community.
