Kirkland Lake Gold Donates to Black River-Matheson Volunteer firefighters

Kirkland Lake Gold donated $25,000 to the Black River-Matheson Volunteer Fire Department  in April, 2019. 
 
donation was a way for Kirkland Lake Gold to thank  the firefighters of Black River-Matheson for their service to the community.
 
The cheque was presented by Rachel Pineault, Director of Human Resources for Kirkland Lake Gold and Sean McCormack, Manager at KL Gold's Holt and Taylor Mine, at an event held in Matheson.  
 
Also on hand for KL Gold were , Wayne McChristie Energy Manager, Gaetan Lessard Mine Captain and Bill Curry Mine Superintendent.  
 
John Reagan, Black River-Matheson Chief Administrative Officer expressed the township's' appreciation for the gift and said in a news release “the Company recognizes the importance and criticality of the Volunteer Fire Department and was in attendance to present a cheque for over $25,000 to purchase much needed equipment."
 
“This generous donation will keep the Fire Department functioning and keep our Firefighters safe. "
 
Mayor Gilles Laderoute also thanked KL Gold for their generous donation and also thanked the firefighters of Black River-Matheson for their service.
 
"There are many employees from KL Gold who volunteer for the Fire Department and KL Gold’s support their volunteer activity through internal policies,” said Guy Lamb, Fire Chief of Black River-Matheson.
 
Chief Lamb said he was very proud of each and every firefighter in Black River-Matheson. He thanked KL Gold for their generosity noting this was not the first KL Gold donation to the Fire Department. 
 
"They were also very generous donators to purchase of the Fire Safety House - KL Gold is a great community partner," Chief Lamb said.
