Headquartered in Val-d’Or, Québec, Orbit Garant Drilling is one of Canada’s largest drilling companies, providing both underground and surface drilling services in Canada and internationally. With more than 230 drill rigs, Orbit Garant offers drilling services to major, intermediate and junior mining companies at every stage of mine exploration, development and production. The Company also offers geotechnical drilling services to mining and exploration companies, engineering consulting firms and environmental consulting firms as well as to government agencies.
Orbit Garant Drilling employs more than 1,300 specialized employees who are trained to meet our customers’ needs efficiently and professionally. We manufacture high-quality drill rigs that deliver superior drilling precision and enhanced worker safety.
OUR HISTORY
Built on the solid foundations of our mining industry experience
Two major diamond drilling companies – Orbit Drilling and Garant & Brothers Drilling – merged in 2007 to establish Orbit Garant Drilling.
Garant & Brothers Drilling was established in 1965 by Jean and Robert Garant. The company significantly enhanced its diamond drilling expertise after it was sold to Michel Mathieu and Maurice Groleau in 1985.
Orbit Drilling was established in 1986 by Pierre and Bernard Alexandre, brothers who had several years of field experience. The company began to expand significantly in 1990, particularly in the international marketplace. Orbit Drilling soon turned its focus to innovation, pursuing an innovative research and development program, and launched its first proprietary drill in 1994.
