About Us

Mining Industry NL is a not-for-profit industry association that represents all sectors of the mineral industry. Its objective is the growth of the industry for the economic and social benefit of all of the people of the province. It is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors and it maintains a small office in St. John’s. As the only business association exclusively representing the entire mineral industry, MINL has a broad mandate to promote the mineral potential of the province, attract investment and build strong relations throughout the entire mining value chain, including exploration (prospecting community and junior exploration companies), mining (mine developers and producers) and supports (supply and service firms).  

 

MINL is the principal advocate and public voice of the mineral industry in the province. In this respect, the MINL Board of Directors examines and offers their views on provincial and federal public policy and regulations impacting the industry, with staff engaged in committee work regarding health and safety, aboriginal engagement and supplier development. The association maintains regular communications with members and the public through engagement with the media, use of social media, a dedicated web site and e-newsletter. As well, MINL supports and participates in the national dialogue on mineral exploration, mining and supplier engagement through its membership in the Mining Association of Canada and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
