We are 100% owned and operated in Canada, and are happy to be celebrating our 53rd Anniversary this year.
 

We are the largest dealer of New and Used Machine Tools and Metalworking Machinery in Canada, with offices in Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton), in British Columbia (Port Coquitlam), in Ontario (Port Perry) and Nova Scotia (Halifax). We have a combined inventory of more than 600 machines in stock for immediate delivery!
 

Modern Tool Ltd., Calgary, AB (Head-Office)

Modern Tool Ltd. was originally incorporated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1960 as a hand tool and shop supply company employing two people. In 1964 the business was purchased by the current owner Mr. George Senecal in partnership with Mr. Bill Meyer and Mr. Elmer Ormiston. The companyís direction after 1964 moved away from small tools and consumables toward machine tools and metalworking machinery lines. In the early 1970′s Modern Tool expanded its operations opening offices in the cities of Edmonton, Alberta also Regina, Saskatchewan and later, Vancouver B.C.

Over time, in 1973 Mr. Meyer left the partnership for other ventures, and in 1989 Mr. Ormiston retired. Mr. George Senecal has continued to steer the corporate ship as CEO and President over all of those years, with the aid of his dedicated staff. We currently employ thirty seven persons in Calgary and Edmonton, and Modern Tool (B.C.) Ltd which has become an independent company based in Port Coquitlam, B.C. (owned and operated by Mr. Peter Baldry) employs seven more.

In 2010 we opened our office and showroom in Port Perry, Ontario, where we currently have additional three employees to serve customers in Ontario and Eastern Canada. In 2012 we added a permanent representative based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and to further serve our customers in Atlantic Canada we now have a permanent representative based in Nova Scotia.
