Position: Project Geologist - Lynn Lake Exploration
 
Reports to: Exploration Manager
 
Role Overview: The Project Geologist will supervise and implement approved exploration work on the Lynn Lake Gold Project. This includes diamond drilling adjacent to known deposits, and a variety of regional exploration activities within the greenstone belt. You will be based in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and will work a 15 day on/13 day off rotation schedule. Travel from your home to site, room and board will be provided at the Company’s expense.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Under the supervision of the Exploration Manager, the Project Geologist plans, carries out and supervises exploration activities on the assigned project areas. This can include but is not limited to the following: 
 
  • Responsible for promoting a healthy and safe work environment which includes:
  • Ensuring staff and contractors are trained in, and follow, safety procedures;
  • Ensuring that COVId-19 protocols are followed;
  • Promoting a reporting culture; and
  • Encouraging active participation in safety meetings, and in hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Ensuring staff and contractors fulfil environmental responsibilities outlined in the work permit and in agreements with local communities;
  • Supporting First Nations recruitment initiatives and training of local support staff;
  • Supervising, mentoring, and training geologists, technicians and students;
  • Managing contractors and ensures that time sheets and invoices are verified;
  • Responsible for execution of approved drill programs - both completing tasks listed below and supervising those to whom the tasks have been delegated:
  • Planning drill holes on approved targets and mentoring geologists in doing so;
  • Logging drill core and mentoring those assigned to log drill core;
  • Ensuring up to date cross-sections are maintained, and quick logs are reported;
  • Ensuring core loggers, technicians and samplers follow established SOPs;
  • Logistics relating to drill pad and trail preparation, spotting, and stopping holes, and rig moves;
  • Communicating logistical or drilling problems to supervisor and working with drillers to solve these issues;
  • Discussing drill hole results and drilling strategy on a daily basis with exploration team and supervisor, including sharing of geological knowledge;
  • Assists the Exploration Manager with the preparation of drill tenders and contracts.
  • Responsible for execution of approved field activities on the project area including geological mapping, sampling, staking, trenching geophysical and geochemical work - both completing tasks listed below and supervising those to whom the tasks have been delegated:
  • Planning field work and supervising field crews;
  • Collecting and compiling new geological observations and samples;
  • Integrating geological, geochemical, and geophysical information to generate interpretations;
  • Utilizing interpretations to generate target ideas and work proposals; and
  • Assists in future drill program planning including compilation of annual budget proposals;
  • Writes reports, and edits reports assigned to others, including annual, monthly and weekly reports;
  • Participates in the training of new geologists and technicians; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Exploration Manager or another designated supervisor.
 
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
 
  • A B.Sc. in Geology or Geological Engineering and P. Geo certification is required;
  • At least 8 years relevant experience is preferred;
  • Must be a team player who promotes safe work and environmental practices, and who works safely with a high degree of professionalism;
  • Must be able to work and live with co-workers in a remote area;
  • Self–aware and self-motivated;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and organization skills;
  • Good leadership, mentoring and inter-personal skills;
  • Produces high quality technical output and trains geologists and technicians to achieve the same;
  • Knowledge of databases, and GIS and 3D geological modelling software is an asset;
  • Experience in gold exploration, geological mapping, drilling programs, geochemical sampling, greenstone belt geology, and integration of geophysical and geochemical information are all assets.
 

Development Boomtruck Operator
  • Safely move material as directed. Report and document all material moved accurately to his/her Supervisor;

Rock Breaker Operator
  • Operate rock-breaker;
  • Perform pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment
Scissordeck Bolter
  • Install ground support as per company standard;
  • Install and maintain services;
  • Load development rounds
Ground Control Engineer
  • QAQC of shotcrete, ground support installation, grouting, ground support auditing and paste fill;
  • Document inspections of underground stoping and development;
  • Rock mass characterisation and classification
Mine Engineer
  • Assist with blast improvement investigations;
  • Look for opportunities to improve efficiencies;
  • Provide guidance to EIT’s
Construction Miner - Transmixer
  • Operate equipment such as transmixer and shotcrete sprayer;
  • Assist in installation, modification and repairs of UG infrastructures
Geological Technician/or Junior Geologist
  • 3D digitizing of underground geological mapping and integration into 3D mining software.
  • Digitize geological surface geological mapping lithology, structure and mineralization
  • Digitize chip sampling of ore development headings as required
Mill Operator/Labourer
  • Works and ensure all workers work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other applicable government standards and regulations;
  • Adheres to and enforces all safety and environmental considerations
Document Control Coordinator - Phase III
  • Implement document and data management solutions with a primary focus on workflow, document control, information security and records management.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to end users in the use of the document management system.
  • Ensure project and operations teams comply with the document management requirements and procedures
Project Controls Manager - Phase III
  • Development and implementation of project controls systems and procedures.
  • Working with accounting personnel to ensure accurate reporting and approval of accruals, forecasts, and project status.
