- Disposing of samples and laboratory data following all standard operating procedures (SOP);
- Recycling of sample containers that are no longer suitable for use;
- Clean sample coolers for reuse and ensure there is an adequate supply for outgoing shipment orders;
- Transfer coolers from sample reception to the warehouse for cleaning;
- Assisting with moving and tracking of samples from login to disposal and the moving and tracking of long term archive samples;
- Maintain inventory of supplies;
- Store, archive, and dispose samples and laboratory data;
- Maintain a clean work area and perform basic building maintenance;
- Provide general assistance as required;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading);
- Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confident with computers;
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
- Well organized, with proven ability to meet strict deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.
- Some experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced environment is an asset;
- Some customer service experience is an asset;
- Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic lab safety is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
- Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
- You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
The successful applicant will be responsible for all sample login activities at the laboratory, with other activities related to sample pickup and handling, including shipping/receiving and occasionally filling in as sample pickup driver.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Burnaby Client Services Team to provide excellent customer service to ALS’ clients and work in a safe manner in accordance with the ALS Health and Safety Program.
The Warehouse Assistant will support the warehouse functions within the lab.
The overall responsibility of the laboratory analyst includes independently conducts routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples.
Working as an integral part of the Technology Solutions team, the Machine Learning Engineer develops and implements strategic solutions that support key business processes for the global Geochemistry business.
