As part of our sales departments, the Application Engineer will work collaborative with internal departments and external stakeholders to support business development, sales of products and aftermarket services, while ensuring that customer requirements are met. This position is ideal for individuals who have a strong aptitude for commercial activities and customer service. This role includes interactions with customers to interpret specifications, select products, and provide technical support.
 
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Providing technical support to customers and to account managers
  • Interpreting specifications and selecting equipment to meet customer requirements;
  • Preparing product quotations and bids for large mining equipment packages
  • Ongoing communication with customers and suppliers
  • Providing technical support and expertise for outside sales force, consultants and customers
  • Preparing sales and product presentations or proposals for clients.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
 
The selected individual will be expected to:
 
  • Develop an understanding of the key hard rock mining customers and EPCs, of the applications and of the products/materials used.
  • Provide Applications Engineering support on mining capital projects and brownfield inquiries/opportunities
  • Support aftermarket sales through field/site visits to understand how our equipment operates and wears, and to work with the technology centre to develop product/material improvements in line with customer expectations.
  • Learn and share inter-company best practices.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications
 
Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Engineering Degree, with 3 to 5 years of engineering experience. P.Eng licence. Prior experience with roles involving applications, customer-support, sales, or manufacturing environments is considered an asset. Mining or mineral processing education or experience will also be considered an asset.
 
Language:
English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
 
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to use basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
Computer Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes/Outlook.  Prior experience using ERP/MRP systems, AutoCAD and/or other Design or engineering software will be considered an asset.
 
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:
Member or eligible to become a member of a Professional Engineering Association, having attained or working towards P Eng designation.
 
Physical Requirements: Employee must be able to sit, stand, and lift up to 15 pounds.  
 
Work Environment:
Environment may vary from quiet (office environment) to moderate (customer sites, warehouse).

Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, machining centers to fabricate high speed precision ground metallic parts and components with tight tolerances and exotic materials.

Material Handler

To ensure timely and accurate movement of all products in and around the facility.

Field Engineer

The Field Engineer’s role will be to technically support our key oil sands customers. 

Handlay Supervisor

Reporting to the Production Manager of the Fabrication Shop, the selected candidate will supervise workers engaged on the afternoon shif.

Buyer

Perform duties required to provide strategically source and procure a wide variety of technical and non-technical materials and services from suppliers worldwide to support customer requirements.

Customer Service Rep - Inside Sales I

Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers; receives and verifies orders for Weir products.
