Meridian Storm Lake has an opens for Production Welders.
 
The Production Welder is responsible for production wire welding product from supplied drawings that meet customer specifications. The Production Welder is required to use various hand tools, such as grinder, to ensure quality welds. The Production Welder must be able to read and understand production drawings, blue prints, work orders and other written instructions.
 
Job Duties
 
  • Follow all safety regulations and encourage co-workers to follow safety regulations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and encourage co-workers to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding.
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
  • Operate over head cranes in compliance with Meridian Manufacturing safety policies.
  • Assemble and wire weld parts in accordance with blueprints, drawings and verbal instruction.
  • Use of various hand tools such as hammer, plasma cutter, tape measure, etc.
  • Weld per company standards prescribed on data sheets.
  • Repair parts of metal products.
  • Conduct quality inspections of work.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits on production items.
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project status.
  • Assist in training of junior employees, inspecting their work.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Sign off on completed work orders and quality of work.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.
  • Actively participate in the development of a LEAN manufacturing culture.
  • Other assigned work as required.
 
Requirements
 
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
  • AWS D1.1 Weld Certification or ability to acquire within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally with co-workers.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Critical eye for identifying defects.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and the tools required in various processes.
  • Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
 
Working Conditions
 
  • Ability to work with a variety of hand tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, 50 or more pounds with assistance.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat, humidity, cold and exposure to dust and weld fumes.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
  • Must be able to see, breath, stand, walk, crawl, bend, climb and stoop.
