Perform duties required to provide strategically source and procure a wide variety of technical and non-technical materials and services from suppliers worldwide to support customer requirements. Liaise with counterparts in Sales, Project Management, Inventory and Logistics to ensure the optimal combination of cost, quality and lead time to support customer requirements.
 
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
 
Including but not limited to:
 
  • As purchasing subject matter expert, provide guidance on strategic sourcing, manage available supplier capacity and identify where risks to the business exist.
  • Source, request and evaluate quotations for new and non-standard items
  • Review inventory and purchase requisitions for a variety of materials, suppliers or equipment for accuracy, completeness and proper authorization and process purchase orders for same.
  • Monitor purchase order status through to delivery and bring potential shortages to the attention of relevant stakeholders.
  • Initiate improvement tactics for supplier on-time delivery, past due and lead times based on credible information and performance trends, including alternative supply options
  • Create a partnership relationship with assigned suppliers with open and frequent communications
  • Assure accurate and timely purchase orders, adjust per needs of the business and deliver clear communications to those stakeholders impacted
  • Monitor supplier performance against specific needs and follow up on expedites and current schedules for positive impact to customer service
  • Ensure ERP system is kept up-to-date and accurate to maximize benefits of the available functionality
  • Drive improvements to the procurement process
  • Provide direction and back-up coverage within team as needed

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications
 
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree with minimum 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in procuring material and equipment in the Mining and Oil & Gas environments. Experience using SAP ERP system for procurement activities is also an asset.
 
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Computer Skills:
Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business technology, such as computer and job related software (Microsoft Office), calculator, telephone, fax, photocopier, etc. Experience with SAP ERP system a plus.
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Requires a valid passport or ability to obtain one for potential international travel.
 
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear, use hands to finger, handle and touch objects; is occasionally required to stand or walk; is occasionally required to lift up to ten pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
 
Work Environment:
General office environment; limited exposure to noise, fumes, and temperature changes when working in the manufacturing area; PPE required.

Account Manager-Capital Projects
