Job Responsibilities:

Golder is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to join it's global operations in the Toronto office. Under direction of the Manager, Internal Audit, this individual will assist with the planning, coordination and execution and management of all aspects of financial, internal control, and operational audits within Golder’s global operations.

 

Role Responsibilities:

* Assist in the development of long-term strategies for Internal Audit function;

* Assist in the development and implementation of business practices and policies within internal audit that is aligned with the organization’s overall strategy;

* Assist in developing an annual risk-based audit plan;

* Assist in planning and execution of internal audits under the direction of Manager, Internal Audit;

* Develop and maintain the Internal Audit data base. This includes audit report library, working paper files, standing data information, procedures and data archiving;

* When required, assisting in conducting special projects and investigations within the Company;

* Reviewing, evaluating, and documenting internal control systems and processes while ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures;

* Presenting audit findings and practical recommendations to improve internal control environment and operational efficiencies to management;

* Developing and maintaining contacts with financial and operational management, to ensure an understanding and acceptance of audit requirements, approach and reporting;

* Help draft detailed internal audit reports and assist in audit assignments;

* This role involves up to 50% travel to both domestic and international locations.

 

Job Requirements:

Accounting designation; CA, CGA, CPA;

* Degree in accounting, business, finance, IT or other related field;

* Experience in developing, maintaining and enhancing internal audit program/procedures;

* Ability to identify and assess risks and address audit issues with practical governance, risk management and control recommendations;

* Superior analytical skills and attention to detail;

* Ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels and functional areas within the Company;

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office group of programs;

* Excellent oral and written communications skills; multilingual skills would be an asset but not necessary;

* Valid passport and willingness to travel up to 50% of time both to domestic and international locations.

 

Desired skills and attributes:

* Knowledge and understanding of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards and interpretive guidance, as well as practical application of internal audit practices and advanced techniques such as continuous monitoring and computer – assisted audit techniques;

* Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, ideally within a large and diverse organization;

* Knowledge of internal control concepts, and GAAP/IFRS standards.
