Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Mine Maintenance Reliability Engineer will be working with mine operations and maintenance teams to enhance the availability and effectiveness of mine equipment assets. The primary role of the RE is to provide technical support in the form of Data Analysis, Failure Analysis, and Root Cause Investigation and is responsible for the following
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Facilitate/lead root cause failure analysis for major component failures on key open pit equipment
  • Maintain and validate downtime reporting databases and KPI’s
  • Drive the predictive and preventative maintenance process, including data translation and analysis (including report generation)
  • Identify, evaluate, and scope reliability improvement opportunities
  • Ensure the sustainability of the Condition Monitoring techniques that are currently used and any to be implemented
  • Lead/Work within cross functional teams including engineering, maintenance, operations to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Lead the use of improvement processes to improve the performance of assets
  • Actively coach and train condition monitoring and lubrication technicians
  • Ensure efficient and reliable operation of mine equipment while protecting and prolonging the economic life of all assets
  • Contribute to overall efficiency of the maintenance department by performing other technical functions as assigned by supervisor
 
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Minimum of 3 years practical reliability engineering experience in a mining or related maintenance field, required
  • Mechanical/Electrical trade or Bachelor qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferred
  • Experience using vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and NDT
  • Have experience applying RCM principles
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excelled proficiency with computer skills and software: Microsoft projects (GANTT Chart), SIS, Microsoft Office and a CMMS, preferred
  • Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
  • Mechanical qualification in Maintenance Planning/Asset Management, preferred Qualification as a certified maintenance and reliability professional, preferred
  • Self-starter and high-performance attitude
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements
