The Senior Planner will be responsible for the safe development and implantation of an effective maintenance planning program for the mining equipment fleet at Mt. Milligan. The role will focus on coordinating the production needs of the mining operations with the maintenance and repair requirements of the equipment.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Develop and implement an effective maintenance planning program for all mining equipment and mine operational electrical infrastructure at the Mt Milligan mine site
  • Develop and implement a strong maintenance business process, including Predictive Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance programs, and equipment maintenance Best Practices
  • Manage logistics and oversee the erection / assembly / commissioning of the new mining equipment
  • Develop and promote a “Continuous Improvement” philosophy within the mine maintenance departments, with counterpart(s) in the mill, and with contractors / vendors
  • Develop and oversee maintenance budgeting activities, and analyze maintenance costs
  • Set priorities and then plan and schedule all major equipment repairs / overhauls
  • Embrace a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection as top priorities, and ensure compliance with all corporate, governmental and site safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Develop, train, and manage safety-based and performance- based staff, including predictive maintenance technicians, planners, and reliability engineers
  • Identify, encourage, and manage training requirements / opportunities for employees and direct reports. Work closely with the training, safety, and environmental departments to ensure that training requirements are being met
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, as well as technological, state-of-the-art advances for equipment maintenance and repair
  • Look for opportunities to improve employee safety and awareness. Review and communicate risk management situations. Lead by example by wearing correct personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Provide direction for employees to grow and develop while motivating them to reach their maximum potential. Encourage employees to be fully engaged and understand how to contribute to the overall success of Mt Milligan
  • Make recommendations in relation to measuring and improving production methods, employee, and equipment performance / efficiency, working conditions, and the quality of the work produced
  • Assist the Mine Maintenance Superintendent in the maintenance of the mine fleet, and act as manager in his absence (at his request)
 
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Five plus years supervisory and planning experience in an industrial or mining setting preferred
  • Degree or diploma in a technical field an asset
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of SIS and Cat Parts Store preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
  • Knowledge of mine equipment and mine site standards, policies, procedures, and processes
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision​
 
The schedule for this position is 4 days on, 3 days off – 10 hours per day or 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hours per day.
