The University of Ottawa is seeking a Chief Communications Officer (CCO) to be the ambassador and communications lead for the University. Reporting to the Vice President of External Relations and working in concert with the President and Vice Chancellor, the CCO will be responsible for the University of Ottawa’s strategic communications, public and government relations, media relations, and reputation management. The CCO will liaise with the senior management of the University on all matters that affect the perception and reputation of the University nationally and internationally and will oversee all proactive communications, crisis communications, issues management, as well as a variety of communications programs using a full complement of digital channels and multi-media platforms.
 
As the ideal candidate, you are a skilled communications professional with experience leading a vibrant, responsive, and innovative communications teams. You are a leader who thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments with multiple stakeholders, and you are energised by environments that are characterised by multiple variables with varying points of view. You are recognized and respected by your peers as a skilled and highly credible expert who excels in interpersonal relationships and leads through influence and persuasion. At the senior management table, you are an active and engaged participant, voicing concerns, sharing ideas, debating issues, and providing options for the team to consider. As the University’s spokesperson, you are fluently bilingual, and you resonate deeply with the University’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion values. Finally, you are thoroughly familiar with the organizational structure of universities or of other complex institutions.
