Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, machining centers to fabricate high speed precision ground metallic parts and components with tight tolerances and exotic materials.
 
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
 
Objectives:
 
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
  • Operates vertical  and horizontal mills and lathes
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Mastercam Programing with Mastercam 2020 or newer
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
  • Safely produce a quality product within given timeframes

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications
 
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Journeyman Machinist Provincial Trade Certification &/or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification.
 
Language Skills:   
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
 
Mathematical Skills: 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability: 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Employees are required to reach, push, pull, climb stairs/ladders, crouch/kneel, regularly step onto/off elevated platforms of work, work on even and uneven ground/surfaces. Ability to safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, man-baskets and aerial platforms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Machine shop environment. Must be able to wear steel toed safety shoes with metatarsal protection, safety glasses and hearing protection. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Overtime requests can be expected by the employee to meet operational requirements. Field machining and millwright work will be asked of the employee.

Perform duties required to provide strategically source and procure a wide variety of technical and non-technical materials and services from suppliers worldwide to support customer requirements.

Customer Service Rep - Inside Sales I

Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers; receives and verifies orders for Weir products.

Applications Engineer

As part of our sales departments, the Application Engineer will work collaborative with internal departments and external stakeholders to support business development, sales of products and aftermarket services, while ensuring that customer requirements are met.
