We have an opportunity for an Intern to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Assist in providing Manufacturing Operations with technical support.  Ensures that all production drawings, process designs and improvements are developed to meet customer requirements, productivity and quality expectations.  Manages projects within designated cost, quality and timelines.
 
Kaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, a division of Kaman Corporation, located in Bloomfield CT, is a leader in the design and manufacture of high technology mechanical products, such as self-lubricated bearings and driveline couplings, used in aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Creates manufacturing production drawings following drafting standards and using Computer Aided Design programs to meet production expectations of process improvements, productivity, and quality and customer requirements. Converts customer drawings into manufacturing drawings.
  • Assist in the recommendation and design of process improvements, utilizing lean manufacturing methods to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs. Assist in the research of new machine and tooling equipment and methods. 
  • Assist in developing manufacturing methods and work instructions on new products or new equipment to meet productivity and quality requirements. Conducts tolerance studies.  Determines tools, jugs and fixtures to support manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting for assembly / machining process / manufacturing problems. Resolves problems.   Works with Engineering, Purchasing, Sales Representatives, vendors and customers to resolve issues.  Creates Work Guidelines.
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and regulations.  Reports safety and environmental incidents to supervisor. 
  • Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Education: Student with an interest in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
