EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST

Reports To: Project Geologist
Location: SPJ Project – Greater Sudbury
Education/Credentials:
• A degree in Geology/Earth Sciences.
• A registered P.Geo. or Registered GIT preferred.
• Industry-standard GIS and 3D modelling experience in one or more of the following would be an asset: QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, Leapfrog, Geosoft Target.
Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 2 years
Pay rate: Salary commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience
Reporting to the Project Geologist, the Exploration Geologist will be undertaking a support role for on-going exploration at the Company’s exploration projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform core logging, data entry, and interpret results.
• Assist with the implementation and execution of drilling and field exploration programs as needed.
• Assist with tracking drilling progress daily as needed.
• Update daily diamond drilling performance reports in excel spreadsheets as needed.
• Conduct inspections of drill sites prior, during, and after drilling has been completed.
• Assist core technicians with geotechnical logging, sample preparation, and the movement and management of core.
• Contribute to geological mapping/prospecting/sampling, including taking a leadership role in geological mapping on a property and a detailed scale.
• Prepare assessment reports, including the creation of maps and figures.
• Ensure all relevant QA/QC protocols and mineral exploration best practices are being effectively followed during the completion of project tasks.
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable government standards and regulations.
• Comply with laws governing mineral exploration, Company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least two (2) years of experience in mineral exploration
• Registered or ability to be registered with Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO)
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work alone.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good team player.
• Good attention to detail.
• Valid Drivers License
• First Aid and ATV/UTV certification would be an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• The role is located at the SPJ Project, which is approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
• 5:2 schedule – subject to change based on Company’s exploration requirements.
