Based at the Macassa Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Surbeyor to join our Mine Operations team.
 
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Kirkland Lake Gold. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains on the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine. 
 
The Surveyor will be responsible for the surveying of the underground environment in a timely and safe manner.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 
  • Survey control points advanced, data downloaded and entered into AutoCAD or other related programs.
  • Update all AutoCAD level plans on an as needed basis.
  • Provide reference tools for the mine department to operate effectively/accurately.
  • Update and issue development-heading updates.
  • Survey of production hole’s toes and collars to support drill and blast design.
  • Survey all diamond drill holes, service holes, others as requested.
  • Cavity monitor surveys of all stopes, raises, etc... as required by engineering.
  • Provide survey support to operations in both underground and surface locations.
  • Track and report monthly advance of mine development and rehabilitation.
  • Ore and concentrate stockpile measurement on a monthly basis, minimum.
  • Perform routine check surveys to ensure precision and accuracy are maintained in all mine survey data and control points.
  • Keep track of required survey equipment calibration and repairs.
  • Complete all survey month-end calculations accurately and within a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
 
Our ideal candidate has:​​​
 
  • Survey/Engineering Technical Diploma (2 years or greater required) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in underground operating mine sites.
  • Working knowledge of mine design software is an asset (AutoCAD, Promine, Deswik).
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Reliable and self-managing.
