What are we looking for?
We are currently seeking a CAD Drafter with a background in Civil/Structural engineering. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and proprietary software. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for managing and developing design drawings conform to satisfy specifications and design data.
This position is full time 6 month contract; 40 hours per week (8:00AM -5:00PM). Some overtime is to be expected during peak construction season.
Responsibilities:
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations.
- Develop engineering, manufacturing, and assembly drawings for sound walls.
- Review and analyze engineering designs and drawings such as preliminary concepts, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Check and verify drawings for technical accuracy and conformance to specifications.
- Manage project through engineering to ensure a high-quality drawing package is produced within expected cycle-times and customer-required due dates.
- Prepare material estimates, project schedules and technical reports.
- Participate in Research and Development programs and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to devise technical solutions.
Qualifications:
- A post-secondary diploma/degree in Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of AutoCAD experience including standardized drafting practices.
- Strong computer skills and high proficiency with AutoCAD. Experience with 3D CAD software is an asset.
- Civil/Structural or Mechanical detailing experience an asset.
- A problem-solver with a dedication to creative, innovative solutions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with others.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized and able to manage and prioritize numerous responsibilities.
- Ability to produce high quality work under changing circumstances.
- Determined, with a tenacious personality that will not let an issue be left unresolved.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
