What You’ll Do
 
As the Blaster,  you will conduct surface production blasting operations within Dyno Nobel standards. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of conducting blasting operations in a safe and efficient manner. You will interface closely with the Mine operations team to ensure safety and optimization of blasting operations. Other duties will include:)
 
  • Works as a job site blaster and receives direction from Site Supervisor and/or Mine Drill & Blast Superintendent
  • Provides input on blast-related activities to aid direct supervisor in plans
  • Identifies blast site problems and resolves with Site Supervisor and/or Mine Drill & Blast Superintendent, if necessary
  • Verifies that pre-blast inspections have been conducted prior to blasting
  • Understands and follows all Company safety policies and practices
  • Monitors the relationship between blast pattern and type of digging and reports results to Site Supervisor or Mine Drill & Blast Superintendent
  • Documents use of explosives and completes required inventory paperwork
  • Is responsible for completing field accounting reports and required trip manifest forms as needed
 
What We’re Looking For:
 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a blaster and hold active blasting licence
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a blaster and hold active blasting licence
  • Experience with electronic blasting systems and non-electric systems.
  • Experience with bulk emulsions namely gassed products. 
  • Experience of safety systems utilized during pumping of bulk products.
  • Experience conducting development blasting applications.
  • Experience and understanding of overall blast design and safety procedures of blasting & drilling operations.
  • Knowledge of mine drilling and blasting standards, production techniques and equipment, safety and environmental regulations
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to plan effectively.
  • Ability to operate survey equipment such as a laser profile and bore track instrument.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Bulk Truck Operator

As the Bulk Truck Operator, you will operate all types of Dyno Nobel trucks and specialty equipment to prepare and deliver company explosive products to customers in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

Underground Operator

The Underground Operator will ensure the safe and effective preparation and delivery of correct explosive product to the loading sites. You will troubleshoot and maintain all equipment types and support ongoing general site operations.

Labourer

As the Labourer, you will assist operations crew on site by operating auxiliary equipment, performing basic maintenance, and assisting equipment operators and blasters at the site in order to safely serve the customer.

Drill Helper / Labourer

As the Drill Helper/Labourer, you will assist operations crew on site by operating auxiliary equipment, perform basic maintenance, and assist equipment operators and blasters at the site in order to safely serve the customer.

Driller

As the Driller, you will operate drills, perform regular maintenance, maintain accurate patterns, and complete appropriate documentation and reports.

Underground Operator

Safely operate and maintain loading and delivery equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures, and in a manner that protects company assets and ensures their dependability.
