Reporting to the Emergency Measures & Mining Rescue Coordinator, you will be responsible of protecting the human and material resources of the company. You will act as officer during operational interventions of the department and as instructor for your department’s in-house trainings. You will also participate in the application of the preventive aspect arising from the mandate of the Emergency Measures department. You will ensure the inspection and maintenance of all emergency equipment. You will assist in controlling situations that could deteriorate and adversely affect mining production and the environment. You may be required to work in support of the dispatcher position on occasion and as needed.
 
You must hold a « Pompier I » certificate from the École Nationale des pompiers du Québec, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a fire prevention service, or other municipal and/or industrial emergency service. A Vocational Studies Diploma in Fire Safety or an Attestation of Collegial Studies would be considered as an asset. You must hold a Quebec’s valid Class 4A driver’s license allowing you to drive an emergency vehicle. You are familiar with the use of Microsoft Office and are able to communicate effectively in both French and English.
 
Work conditions:
 
  • Work shifts of 11 hours per day.
  • Rotation schedule of 2/2: equivalent to 2 consecutive weeks of work followed by 2 weeks of leave.
  • Private air transport is provided from Montreal, Quebec, Rouyn-Noranda, Mont-Joli or Inuit communities (depending on place of residence) to the mine site and return.

Railway Labourer
Reporting to the Railway Supervisor, the primary duties of this job include but are not limited to clean switches, frogs and crossing; adjusts and inspect switches, install or replace worn or defective ties, rails, anchors, switch points and frogs, lifts and shims track, inspects and tightens splice bars and other track maintenance duties.
