Engineering Designer is able to start from a conceptual sketch or idea and is able to completely design the part or assembly using existing components, modifications to existing components or new parts that meet the requirements of the Hilliard Engineering Drafting Manual and Department Manual.
 
  • Plans and prepares layouts, assemblies and details for customer orders and new products of moderate complexity with supervisory assistance.
  • Works closely with all Engineers and Product Managers to ensure that the design follows the correct path to completion. 
  • Checks detail and sub-assembly drawings, and guides work of others as needed.
  • Reviews and applies basic customer and engineering specifications as applicable to assigned jobs.
  • Recommends alternate designs that will lead to reduced costs or eliminate production problems.
  • Must be able to design component interfaces including, but not limited to bearing fits, press fits, pilot fits and clearance fits in both the axial and radial directions. 
  • Selects standard hardware, electrical, piping, springs and bearings for standard product lines.
  • Identifies long lead purchased items and brings to the attention of Production Control, prior to releasing jobs for production.
  • Computes angles, weights, surface areas, clearances, tolerances, hole locations, etc.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Associate Degree in Design, Drafting or equivalent experience.
  • Accept direction and projects from Engineers, as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain cooperative and open communication with all personnel and departments.
  • CAD database management, Auto Cad, Inventor, Cadkey, Pro-E and MS Office a plus.
  • Be able to perform duties as assigned in an ever-changing fast paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Production Position (For Future Consideration)

Ability to perform the duties of any of the following positions: Shipper/Packer/Receiver; Trucker-Parts Wash Assembler; Burr & Sand, Clutch and Purifier and Storekeeper, Clutch, Hilco and All, and Common Laborer.

CNC Machine Operator DT (2nd and 3rd Shift Openings)

Operates one, multiple machines or automated cells to produce machined products, working under routine supervision.
