We are currently looking to add a Engineering Manager, Undergrould Drills to our Hard Rock Group.
 
Location: 25 Fielding Road, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
Position Classification: Permanent Full-Time
Annual Salary: $110,000 - $155,000, commiserating with experience.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Direct a harmonized strategy for the engineering team through new product development projects and current product design support.
  • Manage a team of 5 to 15 design engineers including coaching and development, formal performance management and recruitment of new resources.
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate day to day design work assignments to achieve design quality, cost and innovation objectives.
  • Follow Komatsu New Product Development processes.
  • Ensure technical drawings and specifications of products meet industry and company standards.
  • Key contact for technical information and engineering design in communications with senior management.
  • Create and present technical information and presentations to senior management on key project status.
  • Support sales, product management and aftermarket teams with proposal designs, design cost estimates and technical details and troubleshooting support.
  • Provide input and feedback to improve engineering processes, systems and designs.
  • Visit customer sites to support sales, service and improve product application knowledge.
 
Education / Qualification
 
  • University Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent;
  • 2 or more years of experience with full mobile heavy equipment or machinery design including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical systems;
  • 2 or more years of experience leading a team;
  • Exposure to mining environment and customers preferred;2 or
  • more years of experience with formal new product development gated processes, project management methodologies and systems;
  • Familiar with ISO, ANSI, CSA and other country specific safety regulations as required;
  • Strong business acumen with ability to work effectively within tight deadlines and budget;
  • Excellent understanding of heavy manufacturing processes, Bill of Materials and MRP systems.
  • Fully competent with CAD design, preferably Solidworks and AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written;

  • Criminal Record Check required;
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is preferred.

The Controls and Systems Engineering Manager, Undreground Drills is responsible to ensure the systems design for underground drills meets safety, quality and cost standards while driving continuous improvement as part of a global business intergrated engineering team.

  • Provides training and education on the product range, product application, assisting with the compilation of tender documentation, pricing strategies, and the supply of marketing material to support sales efforts.
  • Initiate and execute on VOC initiatives for product development, continuous improvement and general market research.
