Environmental Engineer or Geologist

By Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME)

Description

You’re a professional environmental engineer, geologist or scientist who cares about the planet, and you enjoy tackling the tough, important challenges.

You’re looking for a firm with a purpose that engages you, and a culture that energizes you.

We’re Floyd|Snider and we’ve been looking for you.

We’re an employee-owned environmental consulting firm offering strategy, science, and engineering solutions in the private and public sectors. Founded in 1996, Floyd|Snider has consistently been recognized as one of the premier firms in the Northwest and a top place to work. Our people love it here because we don’t do cookie-cutter work; we work collaboratively on the most complex, fascinating projects.

Now we’re looking to add a new Environmental Professional to our collaborative team that is accomplishing high-profile investigation and remediation projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. We’re looking for someone who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer service.

That’s where you come in.

As our new Environmental Professional, you’ll work on a variety of projects related to upland and in-water source control, remediation and habitat restoration. Here’s what else will keep you busy from day to day:

  • Leading major tasks or sub-projects
  • Developing scopes of work, project strategy and work plans
  • Collecting field data and providing contractor oversight
  • Coordinating with laboratories and sub-consultants
  • Interpreting data, site history and regulations
  • Preparing reports and presentations
  • Supporting negotiations, remedial design and construction
  • Communicating with project managers, teaming partners, regulatory agencies and clients

This is a great opportunity for a professional with 3-10 years of experience who is self-motivated and wants to gain knowledge and experience working with top-notch teams on premier projects.

Beyond your environmental knowledge and expertise, we’re looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Organized – you see the big picture and the details. You’re able to juggle competing priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Enthusiastic – you’re a team player who wants to excel and gives maximum effort. You love research and your desire to learn and develop your skills is second to none.
  • An excellent communicator – You can communicate with clients, regulators, project managers, consultants, and contractors. You always get your message across clearly and effectively, whether it’s casual conversation or a professionally written email.

The Details:

This is a full-time, permanent position with typical hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. There will be some overtime based on your projects, and you’ll get that back in extra time off. Regional travel is a part of this role, especially in the summertime. You won’t typically go more than 3 hours away, and we’ll cover all your expenses. Usually you’ll return home every night, but for longer trips, we’ll make sure to get you home for weekends.

We offer an excellent compensation package, which includes a competitive salary, commensurate with experience. We offer a bonus structure, equity and ownership options, 401K, a full benefits package, and life insurance.

Your professional growth is a priority to us. You’ll have our support to further your development and participate in conferences.

Working With Floyd|Snider:

We’re a socially responsible business that considers all our stakeholders – environment, planet, community, and supply chain. We’re serious about doing business better. These values led us to become a Certified B Corporation. That’s why we are always finding ways to give back – and so will you with one week of paid volunteer time each year.

We’ve got a spectacular group, and if you enjoy teaming up with extremely bright people in a variety of fields solving real, complex, and important problems, then this is the place for you.
