- Support investigations regarding reported safety incidents
- Complete safety training and certification as required by site and departmental procedure
- Actively participate in back-to-work and toolbox meetings
- Manage the exploration geology databases of the Porcupine Project and ensure high quality data is available in a timely manner for resource and reserve estimations.
- Upgrade and modify the structure of existing databases in SQL format according to the needs of the Mine Geology department.
- Demonstrate excellent proactive communication with Engineering, Operations, Exploration and Mine Geology personnel.
- Create, update, and modify jobs in SQL for data entry, synchronization and reporting.
- Establish procedures to provide data to the end-users in the desired format according to their needs (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Access, etc).
- Coordinate with Newmont internal and external consultants to achieve Company requirements in database management and QAQC.
- Coordinate closely with the Newmont exploration team to ensure the use of the latest tools and software available within the company and globally.
- Demonstrate the Newmont values of Safety, Integrity, Sustainability, Inclusion and Responsibility in all actions and make sure this is followed by people in the department.

- Geology or related geosciences Bachelor of Science degree or diploma, or Information Systems B.S. degree or diploma with relevant work in the geosciences.
- 5 years or more experience with exploration databases (drilling, mining, exploration) with strong SQL skills or transferable skills from commercial products such as acQuire, Maxwell, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write and converse in English at a very high standard.
- Strong computer skills including experience with SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL scripting for DDL and DML, ArcGIS, Access etc.
- Competent in the analysis and evaluation of complex data sets (multivariate).
- Demonstrated ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Good time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to be flexible and handle multiple priorities in team‐based environment.
- Must be a self-starter and able to balance multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Application development skills are a plus.
- This position would ideally be based out of Timmins, Ontario with a daily commute to the Porcupine operations.
- In this role, you will work a 5x2 schedule. While we prefer to have a local candidate in the Timmins area, or someone open to relocating to Timmins, we will consider all qualified candidates.
To process, compile and interpret a significant amount of geologic information being generated by the Borden exploration efforts. Work with contractors and work effectively and efficiently within the geology team and with other departments.

The Senior Database Analyst is in charge of maintaining and further modifying an in-house SQL database for validating, storing, and auditing a large variety of large datasets (Production drilling, exploration drilling, sampling etc.) in support on Mine Geology, and Exploration Geology as well as Mine Operations and Mine Engineering.
This position will be reporting to the Chief Surveyor. Accountable for prioritizing daily tasks and providing accurate surveys and mark ups to operations and planning group in a timely manner.
Operates Scooptram to remove materials from underground sumps, and occasionally help with pump changes. Reports to the Upper Longhole/ Construction Supervisor at Hoyle site.
