We are currently seeking a Junior Indigenous Liaison to work out of our  Thunder Bay, ON office.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Assist the Indigenous Relationships Manager with defining strategic goals as part of a business team;
  • Assist in identifying potential Indigenous business opportunities, and build strong relationships with key decision makers within the client organizations that would include First Nation, Inuit and Metis people and surrounding communities;
  • Assist in initiating contacts as appropriate with DST management to ensure robust pipeline of opportunities;
  • Meet existing Indigenous clients’ needs by growing the business pipeline and maintaining strong business relationships;
  • Present new products, services and solutions that enhance existing relationships;
  • Work with team members to develop proposals that speak to Indigenous needs, concerns, and objectives;
  • Assist in providing consultation-related advice, options, and guidance to DST management, senior officials, and decision-makers responsible for varied service lines on projects of various scope, scale, and significance;
  • Make presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict client future needs;
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends and partnership opportunities;
  • Provide weekly progress updates including opportunities and forecasted actions;
  • Assist in educating DST staff on the issues and challenges facing Indigenous peoples and First Nation Communities and fostering respect within those who will interact with communities during project delivery.
 
Qualifications
 
  • Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 2-4 years of applicable experience; OR A suitable combination of related education and relevant work experience;
  • Understanding of business opportunities and proven relationships with first nations community;
  • Possess strong business solutions and/or services sales & delivery skills;
  • Strong understanding of the government regulatory environment;
  • Comfortable marketing our services to existing and potential clients;
  • Excel in networking and engaging a variety of stakeholders forming collaborative and strategic relationships;
  • Highly professional and exercise sound judgment around issues requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy;
  • Skilled with sales planning, client management, identification of customer needs and challenges;
  • Solid understanding of market knowledge and current trends;
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills as well as organization and planning skills;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision;
  • Conceptual thinking, outcome focused, strategic orientation, initiative and intercultural diversity proficiency;
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy work place;
  • Able to manage a frequent travel schedule;
  • Proficient with use of MS Office;
  • Valid Driver’s License is mandatory.
