The Sugar Zone Mine entered commercial production in 2019 and has an anticipated mine life of approximately 13 years at current production levels. The mine is currently producing from the Sugar Zone North and South areas. Development is underway to the Middle Zone, which will open up a whole new mining area, expected by mid-2021.
 
We are seeking energetic and self-motivated individual to fill this position. The successful candidates will have a high focus on safety and environmental protection in all aspects of the job reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor.     
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Inspection of equipment and timely elimination of defects.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair underground/surface equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Align yourself with the crews to meet or exceed all Safe production goals and objectives relative to the budget.
  • Correct hazards and report safety concerns to Supervisor.
  • Provide guidance and instruction of operator care program. (Wash, pre-op & reporting, lube)
  • Ensure all equipment safety features are in good working order.
  • Create work orders for all work.
  • Communicate open defects for planning and scheduling at PM.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications include:
 
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary institution in a mechanical program or has acquired qualifications of the trade by progressively advancing through an apprenticeship program to become certified.
  • Valid Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial Certificate.
  • Underground Common Core.
  • 3 years previous experience in the mining industry.
 
Work Schedule:
 
  • The work schedule is a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12-hour shift.
  • Accommodation to be provided in White River, Ontario.
  • Transportation provided between White River and the Sugar Zone Mine.
