At Phoenix Industrial we are looking for talented individual to join our team for upcoming opportunities and are currently accepting applications for Health, Safety and Environmental Lead.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Manage and Implement policies and procedures in order to meet ISO 9001 requirements, and to provide a safe working environment for clients, employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure adequate documentation and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, local legislation and conditions of any required regulations.
  • Communicate the essential requirements of the Health and Safety Program to all client employees and subcontractors and to develop a positive culture with respect to Health and Safety practices within areas of operations.
  • Update, maintain and present safety orientation and training for all new employees and subcontractors to ensure complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviors within the workplace.
  • Maintain and present safety orientation meetings and ongoing training for existing employees and visitors as required.
  • Coordinate safety and health supplies by ensuring supplies are purchased in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Provide regular and accurate statistical reports on all medical aid, WCB incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and disability information.
  • Communicate to management as required.
  • Monitor and recommend corrective action.
  • Maintain Safety and Health Bulletin boards.
  • Maintain records of all Safety and Health related training on individual files and plant-wide logs. Forward copies to the Human Resource Manager.
  • Ensure compliance meets all legislative requirements, including: WHMIS, First Aid Responder, Workplace Safety and Health Committee, etc.
  • Conduct effective hazard analysis for al work centers.
  • Ensure safe work procedures are current and complete for all work centers.
  • Investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including communicating to, training and following up with supervisors and employees.
  • Diligently encourage and promote positive and effective employee relations through communications initiatives, coaching supervisors, providing counseling to emplyees and monitoring employee satisfaction.
  • Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the above.
 
Requirements:
 
  • NCSO or OHS in industrial construction plus continuing professional development.
  • Degree or Diploma in Health and Safety
  • Possess current First Aid, CSTS, H2S Alive and Leadership for Excellence Training.
  • Experience with disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access) and be able to handle working with multiple programs.
  • Must have experience leading a team of safety professionals.
  • At least 10 years health and safety experience working in Industrial Construction, Fabrication and Maintenance with a proven track record of implementing successful systems and programs relating to the policies of the organization.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Outlook ).
  • Ability to read/write English at a proficient level.
  • Possess current First Aid Responder certificate.
  • Experience with disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis.
  • Understanding of current legislation, Codes of Practice, Bulletins and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
  • Confidence, with the proven ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels.
  • Very strong sense of urgency with proven record of following through to meet deadlines and commitments. Energetic, self motivated, creative and especially positive outlook.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidences and ensure confidentiality of information and records.
  • Self motivated, energetic and able to work in either a team environment or independently.
  • Ability to mentor, train and develop other employees.
  • Experience in Earth, Civil works or Environmental Industry is preferred.
