The Gahcho Kué Project is an exciting new diamond mine under construction in the Northwest Territories, Canada. De Beers Canada is seeking to fill the following positions which will support the construction and operation of the project.
Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, these positions will be responsible for competently operating heavy mobile equipment including but not limited to haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, excavators and/or shovels to safely maximize the mine production of ore and waste in the mine pit. The ideal candidate would be one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Operating Heavy Mobile Equipment according to company procedures and standards;
· Conducting daily safety checks and inspections of the equipment before operating;
· Monitoring equipment and reporting any deficiencies according to proper mine operating procedures; and
· Maintaining proper communication links.
Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent life skills;
· Three to five years' experience in operating heavy mobile equipment;
· Heavy equipment certificate or equivalent on the job training and experience;
· Experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in remote site and open pit is an asset; and
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment is essential.
