HR Business Partner - Canadian Plants

- Provide HR leadership for multiple facilities across Canada.
- Actively participate in the local grievance process for each unionized facility.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations as a member of the collective bargaining team.
- Drive collaborative labor relations at the site level by working with both union representatives and management
- Consult with line management providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Manage and resolve complex employee and labor union relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provide counsel on employment law issues at the local facilities in collaboration with legal.
- Provide input into the design of corporate HR policies and implement such policies at the locations.
- Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase engagement, productivity and retention.
- Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
- Develop offer terms for new hires, promotions, transfers.
- Provide guidance and input on local restructures, workforce planning, succession planning.
- Identify training needs for the facility and individual coaching needs.
- Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Participate in, and contribute to, weekly local leadership team meetings.
- 40-50% travel required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent work experience required.
- CHRP designation preferred or the equivalent of Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution and/or Advanced Mediation and Workplace Conflict Coaching Certification.
- 7-10 years of multi-site, progressive Human Resources & Labor Relations experience required.
- 3-5 years’ in union environment with hands on CBA experience required.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws
- Relevant manufacturing industry experience a plus.

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in a the mine.
This role functions with a high degree of autonomy and reports directly to the Manager, Mine Development, within the Mine Engineering department.
As a strategic partner, the HR Business Partner aligns business objectives with employees and management at the Canadian manufacturing facilities, and serves as a consultant to the local management teams on Human Resource related issues.
This position is primarily responsible to support Capital Sourcing for the Canadian Business Units.
The person in this position is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Environmental Health and Safety Management System at the Goderich Mine.
Responsibilities encompass operations, capital and financial reporting including variance analysis.
Following the mine plan, the Mining Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient and quality of work performed by the Mining Team.
