As an Industrial Hygienist - Project Coordinator, you will provide occupational hygiene, health and safety consulting services to our valued clients. 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
  • Assign, collect and coordinate industrial hygiene and health and safety project resources (i.e. equipment, tools, materials, documentation, people, etc.)
  • Conduct effective industrial hygiene worker exposure and workplace monitoring studies for chemical and physical hazards
  • Interpret and/or analyze sample data/results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted criteria and guidelines
  • Develop practical control strategies and recommendations that meet client needs and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive, technically-sound reports for clients
  • Prepare proposals and budgets for clients
  • Conduct site safety audits (site, system, documentation etc.) and hazard/risk assessments
  • Develop and review various types of health and safety documentation, such as exposure control plans, occupational health and safety programs, policies and safe work/operating procedures 
  • Conduct site safety coordination for clients as needed
  • Liaise with clients to ensure needs, goals and objectives are addressed and met
  • Build new business by creating and maintaining positive client relationships 
 
Qualifications: 
 
  • University Degree or Technological Diploma in Occupational Hygiene or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in industrial hygiene (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation (e.g. WorkSafe BC, Canada Labour Code, etc.)
  • Consulting and project coordination/management experience an asset
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, and meet demanding client needs/deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to focus on efficient task execution
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client interfacing and customer services skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and execute detailed instructions
  • Reliable personal vehicle required 
 
Working Conditions:
 
  • Periodic weekend and evening work will be required – paid overtime
  • Travel in and around BC and the Lower Mainland – mileage reimbursement
  • Field work approximately 60% (office 40%), subject to change based on project workload 
  • In-house and external training is provided
  • Strong mentorship toward safety and hygiene designations
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, vest, respirator, etc.)
