A new Board Member will be appointed to the Board of Directors for Dbenjgan Inc. This appointment will be made by Chief and Council according to the recommendations by our Board Development Committee. You will need to apply for this volunteer position, as a possible candidate for board service. We are requesting you to give serious consideration for a board position. Once appointed it will be for a one to four-year term depending on your credentials.

 

The next several years promise to be exciting ones for Dbenjgan and our community. The organization will continue to have a positive impact on the community we serve. The Board of Directors will play a central role in this important work. Based upon your past board experience and/or involvement in our community, the committee will determine if you are well qualified to be nominated for a board position.

 

A primary responsibility of board directors is to participate in the development of policy and major decision-making at board meetings held at least monthly. You will also be required to participate on the organization’s annual strategic planning session and/or other urgent board matters. Another key responsibility is to be active on an ongoing basis in a committee of the board. Copies of committee descriptions will be made available upon your appointment.

 

If you feel you can provide leadership, wisdom and creativity for the formulation of policies, progress and practices that contribute to the organizations vision for Biigtigong Nishnaabeg, through it’s for profit-corporation. If you have past board experiences, have a working background in finance and administration, operate a business, participated in start-up companies, knowledge of external environment for opportunities for the corporation, an understanding of our community and its needs, have a passion to create successful business ventures, a team player, and a willingness to commit to this board.

 

Dbenjgan Inc is presently involved in the following business enterprises:

 

1- Hydro Electric Generation.

2- Road Maintenance & Snow Removal

3- Construction.

4- Camps & Catering

5- Affordable Housing & Commercial Space Rentals

6- Mining Contracts

 

Dbenjgan is also actively looking at other business ventures with the view of providing an ongoing revenue stream for the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg.

 

Experience in the Energy, Mining and/ or Construction sectors would also be considered an asset.
