ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
 
Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain Superintendent to join our Supply Chain team reporting to the Director, Supply Chain.
 
Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
 
The Supply Chain Superintendent will be responsible for supporting the Procurement and Inventory Management teams.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Your responsibilities will include:​​​
  • Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
  • Develop new service strategies that would best suit the needs of the organization;
  • Develop a Procurement and Contract Management strategy for contracts and services to be completed over a duration of time;
  • Ensure that the sourcing and procurement needs of the operation are delivered in a cost effective and timely manner;
  • Ensure that all contractors are registered and are in compliance with the online accreditation platform;
  • Implement and manage a strategic sourcing methodology;
  • Develop inventory management strategies that will assist the organization in ensuring the appropriate items and quantities are in inventory;
  • Examine and Implement various inventory management tools such as, VMI, consignment, vending machines, etc.;
  • Manage the LTL Carrier of choice and ensure materials are being delivered in a timely fashion;
  • Manage the logistics for the organization and ensure that freight contractors are in place for key consumables.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Our ideal candidate has:​​
  • SCMP Designation;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or post-secondary education in Business Administration or related discipline;
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in purchasing / inventory management, with a minimum of five (5) years’ in the mining or resources sector preferred;
  • Proven commitment to safety, health and environmental best practices;
  • Strong English verbal and written communication and report writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
  • Strong business acumen and competent computer literacy skills (MS Office/SAP).

Warehouse Supervisor
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for supervising warehouse personnel and all other aspects of the Detour Lake Mine site warehouse. The successful candidate will support operations, meet customer requirements and assess stocking strategies for all materials and manage them through their life cycles, including reviewing slow moving or obsolete stock for further action.
