ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
 
Based at the Detour Lake Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our Supply Chain team reporting to the Supply Chain Superintendent.
 
Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
 
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for supervising warehouse personnel and all other aspects of the Detour Lake Mine site warehouse. The successful candidate will support operations, meet customer requirements and assess stocking strategies for all materials and manage them through their life cycles, including reviewing slow moving or obsolete stock for further action.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Your responsibilities will include:​​​
  • Ensure the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
  • Supervisor and manage all warehousing activities including freight management, receiving, issuing, cycle counts and shipping of items to and from the Detour Lake Mine;
  • Ensure target service levels are optimized throughout the Supply Chain network by participating in planning meets and discussions around work management which interacts with other departments and customers;
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to work efficiently and effectively;
  • Administer and control inventory management procedures and processes;
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of the department activities;
  • Prepare and manage Operating and Capital Budgets;
  • Provide leadership and coaching in safe work practices to maintain and build upon safety culture.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Our ideal candidate has:​​
  • Diploma or Certificate in Inventory and Warehouse Management;
  • 10+ years’ of progressive work experience in warehouse operations and logistics management, preferably in a mining environment;
  • 3+ years’ in a supervisory role;
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety in the workplace;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience with IMS/WMS, specifically SAP would be considered a strong asset;
  • Proven commitment to health, safety and the environment;
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
