FIRE SPRINKLER TECHNICIAN-RED SEAL

- Conduct inspections and testing of water based fire protection systems; tests systems using prescribed procedures according to NFPA guidelines.
- Locate test connections, risers, sprinkler locations, and alarm panels to conduct testing of facility.
- Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on systems to including fire sprinkler wet systems, fire sprinkler dry systems, fire sprinkler pre-action systems, fire pumps, fire hydrants, backflow preventers and special hazard systems.
- Review plans and specifications to determine required materials and/or sequence of installations.
- Prepare cost estimates for labor and materials for proposed projects.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace: electrical alarm sensors, alarm valves, dry fire sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, backflow preventers, wet and anti-freeze sprinkler systems.
- Perform code mandated commissioning and recurring maintenance testing of fire and life safety systems.
- Serve on after hours call team and on-call back up for fire alarm and automatic sprinkler issues.
- Complete all relevant service documentation as required including, FLRA’s, vehicle inspections, TDG forms, inspection reports, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Red Seal Journeyman Certification as a Fire Sprinkler Technician
- 3 to 5 years industry experience in service and inspections
- Working knowledge of all aspects of the Alberta Fire Codes and Alberta Building Codes as they apply to fire protection and lifesaving equipment
- Cross connection control certification is ideal
- Good oral/written communications & Good computer skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Clean drivers abstract and valid driving license
