- Measure, examine and test completed units for defects or non-conformance to specifications
- Set up, adjust and operate all basic and specialized machine tools
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories or materials on the machines
- Check work pieces to ensure they are properly lubricated and cooled
- Monitor feed and speed of machines during machining process
- Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools
- Operate equipment to verify and ensure operational efficiency
- Clean, lubricate and maintain machinery in good operating condition
- Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding and cutting equipment
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
- Experience working as a tradesperson, specifically in a heavy industrial field
- Extensive knowledge of shop instrumentation and mathematical abilities
- Expertise in use of lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders
- Superior blueprint-reading ability
- Extensive knowledge of metal properties, layout and machine procedures
- Competent in use of micrometers and calipers
- Willingness to work on a rotational shiftwork basis and overtime as required
