Job Description:
 
Boart Longyear is accepting resumes for the role of a Maintenance Supervisor in our North Bay, Ontario Manufacturing facility. In this position, you will be required to contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that compliments the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize, support and safety) are supported and adhered to. Position Responsibilities:
 
  • Optimize facility equipment up-time and performance
  • Design and maintain schedules for new equipment and service timetables. This includes re-work and unfinished maintenance of machines
  • Maintain records, forms, blue prints, catalogues, manuals, handbooks, including plant equipment drawings and the PLC library.
  • Execute maintenance planning tasks in accordance with process
  • Review and analyze work orders ready for planning, correctness and adequacy
  • Initiate requisition of non-stock items and initiate the procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure scheduled work falls within realistic completion dates.
  • Interface with Maintenance and Operations Departments to determine work activities.
  • Create, use and maintain Plant equipment history and other technical information to support current job plans
  • Guides, manages, and directs the activities of subordinates and functions of assigned area.
  • Supervise unionized workforce
  • Monitor attendance, payroll, timecards
  • Assist with Operator Training
  • Help with continuous improvement projects throughout the shop
  • Be an active contributor to our ISO-9001/2015 program
  • Assist with the monthly Quality / Safety Meetings
  • Maintain a professional, clean shop
 
Required Qualifications:
 
  • 5+ years of Supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of machining experience
  • Technical and mechanical experience in a production / machine shop environment.
  • Understand the concepts of Preventative Maintenance and the ability to apply those theories
  • Working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement administration in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety laws of Ontario
  • Good knowledge of CNC Programming/CNC/MC machine set up
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume and high-mix environment
  • Adhere to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills — written and verbal
  • Bilingual in both official languages would be considered an asset
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Comfortable with MS Office tools: Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Knowledge of Oracle System is an asset
  • Able to work shift work consisting of 8 or 10 hour shifts
  • Travel: 10% of the time
 
Education and Experience:
 
  • Typically requires High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of machining experience
