Massage Therapy Clinic Technologist

Cambrian College’s Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing, and Emergency Services requires Massage Therapy Clinic Technologists on temporary basis beginning September 2021. The clinic requires technologists who can support the students in their learning and who can support clinic operations. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Collaborate with faculty to plan and assist in demonstrating skills; provide support and guidance in the learning of entry to practice competencies.
  • Review and approve time sheets and competency completion documents.
  • Assist with the evaluation of student skills and procedures performance.
  • Ensure students are providing safe and ethical massage therapy treatment; uphold standards of care and ensure students provide care within the scope of massage therapy practice.
  • Ensure that infection prevention and safety protocols are strictly upheld.
  • Provide student support as needed during clinical shifts
  • Ensure safe and competent care for clients and uphold integrity of client charts/information; sign-off on student-initiated procedures and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Oversee laundry and linens including transporting, washing, drying and folding linens as per clinic protocols, and ensuring linens are stocked for clinical shifts.
  • Manage equipment maintenance providing regular documented equipment inspections as per clinic protocols; ensure the clinic manager is notified of any required service calls or equipment failures.
  • Oversee inventory control and quality assurance, performing ongoing monitoring of inventory for consumable items, linens, and equipment, and assist in quality assurance data collection.
 
Qualifications
 
Required: 
 
  • Minimum of a two-year postsecondary diploma in Massage Therapy. A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • Registrant in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
  • Two years of experience working within a Massage Therapy clinic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, work-related flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to advise and positively interact with students is important, as is the ability to work within a team environment.
 
Assets/Preferred: 
 
  • Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
  • Prior teaching experience.
