Reporting to the Vice President, Technical Services, the Director, Metallurgy is responsible for overseeing all metallurgical programs at Copper Mountain’s operations, development projects and exploration properties.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
•    Responsible for leading the metallurgical function for the Company.
•    Act as a technical expert through the identification of areas for improvement, optimization, problem solving and development of new processes to reduce costs, increase recovery and improve safety and environmental performance. 
•    Develop and/or recommend the most robust and economic ore processing methods and flow sheets for CMMC.
•    Ensure the Company’s metallurgical plants are running as per design in production, cost and environmental compliance.
•    Oversee laboratory practices, methods and quality control; metallurgical testing; internal reporting; metallurgical balance and modeling.
•    Provide mentorship and guidance to the operating metallurgy teams.
•    Maintain relationships with metallurgy experts within the industry to keep informed on metallurgy developments.
•    Keep informed on new technology and provide leadership to capture business opportunities associated with the implementation of new technologies.
•    Assist with the selection of material and determining the scope for metallurgical tests work programs for current and future operations. 
•    Determine best practice metallurgical design for future operations. 
•    Manage design and engineering of company metallurgy-related projects.
•    Assist with commissioning new projects.
•    Assist with tailings impoundment designs and strategies.
•    Support other departments with development of project capital estimates and financial models.
•    Support project contract engineering firms with plant design and strategy.
•    Develop project metallurgists as needed for corporate projects.
•    Support strategic technical development projects with key vendors.
 
Education & Experience:
 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.
•    Minimum 10 years’ experience in mineral processing, preferably including time at an operating mine and within a design engineering firm.
•    Knowledge of equipment and machining processes in the copper-gold industries.
 
Required Skills:
 
•    Proven ability to manage, mentor and coach employees.
•    Work seamlessly within a team approach.
•    Strong knowledge of mine site operations and project development requirements.
•    Demonstrated expertise in metallurgy and testing procedures. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly.
•    Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
•    Ability to take initiatives and work independently as well as across different levels of the organization.
•    Ability to identify key technical and business issues and develop innovative solutions.
•    High degree of business acumen and ability to think strategically. 
•    Strong leadership skills.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President, People is responsible for providing strategic human resources leadership to Copper Mountain Mining Corporation and ensuring the delivery of core HR functions including recruitment and retention, performance and succession management, people development, global mobility, HR policies and procedures, and compensation and benefits.
