Reporting to the Vice President, Technical Services, the Director, Electrical Engineering is responsible for overseeing the electrical engineering function within Copper Mountain and providing electrical engineering expertise across the Company’s operations, development projects and exploration properties.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
•    Responsible for leading the electrical engineering function for the Company.
•    Provide guidance to site electrical maintenance teams.
•    Perform engineering design and related duties; including, power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding, LV and MV motor sizing and selection, cable distribution design, schematic, single line, termination schedule and wiring design.
•    Assess the feasibility of proposed plans, projects and equipment from an electrical perspective.
•    Participate in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of electrical systems.
•    Ensure design compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes, as well as internal QA/QC procedures.
•    Determine electrical specifications, materials, equipment and scope.
•    Maintain electrical data, documentation, and drawings for all Copper Mountain mines and projects.
•    Review, evaluate and approve contracts for work to be performed by consultants and external contractors; monitor budgets, approve plans and designs and resolve problems as they arise.
•    Keep informed on new technology and provide leadership to capture business opportunities associated with the implementation of new technologies.
•    Support other departments with development of project capital estimates and financial models.
•    Support project contract engineering firms with electrical engineering design and strategy.
•    Support strategic technical development projects with key vendors.
 
Education & Experience
 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a P.Eng. in British Columbia.
•    Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering, preferably including time at an operating mine and within a design engineering firm.
 
Required Skills
 
•    Proven ability to manage, mentor and coach employees.
•    Strong knowledge of mine site operations and project development requirements.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly.
•    Strong technical reporting writing and presentation skills.
•    Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as across different levels of the
•    organization.
•    Ability to identify key technical and business issues and develop innovative solutions.
•    High degree of business acumen and ability to think strategically.
•    Strong leadership skills.

Director, Metallurgy

Reporting to the Vice President, Technical Services, the Director, Metallurgy is responsible for overseeing all metallurgical programs at Copper Mountain’s operations, development projects and exploration properties.

Director, Projects

Reporting to the Vice President, Project Development, the Director, Projects is responsible for managing project development activity at the Company’s operations and exploration properties.
