Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Financial Reporting Manager, will assist with leveraging technology and creating financial reporting efficiencies for our organization.
 
We are a small, cohesive team, focused on building value for Skeena, and we pride ourselves on being innovative. In executing the corporate vision through automation, streamlining and systems efficiency, this role will be a key resource for the team in a time of rapid growth.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A in compliance with IFRS;
• Prepare and review monthly working papers, supporting schedules and technical accounting memos;
• Work towards enhancing a formal process for internal controls to ensure compliance with NI 52- 109 and SOX;
• Ownership of ERP system and chart of accounts within Sage 300;
• Assume the role of primary liaison between the auditors and Skeena;
• Training, reviewing, and overseeing the work of junior staff members;
• Follow and complete all month end procedures with accuracy and efficiency;
• Support all payroll functions;
• Prepare tax filings;
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organization’s procedures and general ledger accounts;
• Assist in preparation and analysis of budget-to-actual reports, and other similar performance measurements.
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
 
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required, with 3-5 years experience within a public accounting firm.
• Previous mining experience is an asset but is not required.
• Familiarity with Sage 300 ERP system is considered an asset but is not required.
• Must be comfortable using technology to gain efficiencies and make improvements to streamline the financial reporting process.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a track record of developing team relationships and providing leadership to junior team members.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High standards of business and personal ethical conduct.
• Excellent eye for detail.
 
This position would be well suited for someone looking to make the jump from public practice to industry.
 
This is a full-time position based out of Vancouver, BC. Due to COVID-19, work is currently being performed remotely, but in time this will be an office-based position.
