The Opportunity: We are seeking Red Seal Industrial Electricians for our Lalor Mine.
 
Relocation packages and housing assistance is available to move you and your family to the vibrant and beautiful community of Snow Lake, Manitoba. Please note this is not a “fly-in-fly-out” opportunity, although we do have a camp available for those who wish to drive in and out to Snow Lake. The successful candidate would report to the Electrican Superintendent. At Hudbay we have a variety of different shift schedules, however this position is a 7/7 (days/nights - 11.5hrs each day)
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Receives instructions, drawings, wiring diagrams and work orders from supervision.
  • Interprets all types of drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to locate and install circuits and equipment, to determine material or replacement needs, and to select logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems; makes field sketches, notifies Foreman of any mechanical problems, and records revisions.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of trade techniques, electrical and electronic principles, wiring specifications codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
  • Determines nature and extent of repair work required; plans details of working procedure and isolation of circuits; procures tools and materials required to cause minimum interference to operations; and takes necessary safety precautions.
  • Repairs, overhauls, installs, dismantles, modifies, replaces, adjusts, tests, cleans, lubricates and maintains motors, generators, rectifiers, power transformers, relays, electrodes, magnetic brakes, electric crane components, circuit breakers, in-plant signal and communication system, radio controlled equipment, gas and oil heater, solenoids and ignition transformers, electric heaters, air conditioning, bus bars, cable, service lines, potheads, conduit ducts, power transmission lines, and switch structures, disconnects, switch gear, bushings, lightening arrestors, ground indication and protective system, etc., works on energized equipment when necessary.
  • Makes electrical and related mechanical repairs on such things as, fans, electric locomotives, and battery charging station equipment, switchgear.
  • Trouble shoots electrical and electronic circuits, system controls and protection devices, replaces component parts; accesses and trouble shoots programmable control systems, computer outlets.
  • Welds sufficient to install electrical equipment such as cable, conduit, and raceway support brackets, fixture hangers, junction boxes and outlet boxes,solders, cuts, heats and brazes using soldering and welding equipment.
  • Performs scheduled, emergency and preventative maintenance work.
  • Inspects, repairs, and tests mine hoist and auxiliary equipment; certifies that required tests and repairs have been performed, and notifies Foreman of any mechanical problems.
  • Operates truck on private road and public highways to load, unload and transport tools and materials to job site, operates aerial man lift as required.
  • Erects safety barriers, signs and scaffolds, works from scaffolds, ladders, structures, and conveyances.
  • Electricians will work with Linemen and Substation Operator to meet work load requirements.
  • Keeps working area, tools, and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Records and submits data relevant to job duties and reports irregularities.
  • Direct apprentices as required.
 
Compensation Package: $42.14/hr + underground bonus, profit sharing, full benefits package beginning day 1 of employment, relocation assistance and pension.
