Levitt-Safety is currently recruiting VFSS Technicians in Fort McMurray to provide the highest level of quality mobile service to our customers in the repair and maintenance of Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems and other fire and life protection services.  As a fully trained technician you must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing to grow and pursue a career in fire and life protection services.  This position is based on a compressed work week shift of 12hrs daily-14days on 14 days off.   The ideal candidate will be local to the Fort McMurray area.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Train as a technician to provide vehicle fire suppression service & maintenance  promptly and efficiently.   
  • Inspection, Maintenance and service of Fire Extinguishers & Fire & Life Safety Services Equipment as required.
  • Provide in shop support as required 
  • Work with the locally assigned Service Coordinator to schedule service work and maintain the ordering of parts.
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory and all required tools
  • Complete all applicable H&S Paperwork associated with company H & S policies and ISO procedures. Be an ongoing contributor to the development of JHA’s (Job Hazard Assessments) and Safe Work Practices relevant to the position
  • Accurate and timely completion of service paperwork to facilitate prompt billing, certification(s) of equipment, expenses & other required paperwork. 
  • Perform after hours and on call duties as required.
  • Other Duties and cross training into other roles as assigned.                         
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Prior experience in fire suppression services is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate with a comparable skill set
  • Mechanical Aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills & basic Electrical Knowledge.
  • Experienced working with power and hand tools in a variety of elements
  • Prior experience providing on site mobile service is an asset.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision once fully trained
  • Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Must successfully pass Pre-Employment and periodic Drug & Alcohol Testing.
 
Physical requirements include:
 
  • Working in restricted work spaces and from ladders and walkways on large equipment
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions hot/cold.
  • Good hand/eye coordination & manual dexterity.
  • Prolonged sitting in vehicles, and driving times.
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs. unassisted.
  • Extensive walking will be required at times on uneven ground.
  • The incumbent will regularly work in dusty, dirty environments.
  • There will also be excessive noise from heavy machinery both mobile and stationary on some sites.
