Position: Director, Investor Relations
 
Position Reports To: Vice President, Strategy & Business Development
 
Position Overview
 
Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, the Director will play a key role in implementing New Gold’s investor relations strategy. The Director will work closely with New Gold’s senior management to help maintain the flow of key financial and corporate information between the Corporation, the investment community, and other stakeholders. The Director will also utilize their industry knowledge to undertake communications and marketing initiatives with shareholders and the financial community regarding corporate information, development updates, press release disclosures, and other promotional materials for company use.   
 
The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking or equivalent and ideally with mining experience at a leading firm and/or company.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Leading the planning and management of investor events, including analyst meetings, site visits, conferences, the Annual General Meeting, and other presentations
  • Acts as primary point of contact regarding answering analyst/investor questions related to New Gold, including in relation to financial models
  • Leading the news release process, including preparing drafts of releases and conference call scripts/Q&A, generating figures, and assume primary responsibility for the news release dissemination process
  • Manage the corporate brand and image including the website, ensuring content is current and compliant
  • Monitor the accuracy of information about the Company in the media, external sources and on social media
  • Liaise with investors and the financial community on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor trading activity of New Gold shares on the TSX and NYSE
  • Define and maintain the investor relations database/relationship management system
  • Draft other IR/external communications documents as necessary, including fact sheets
  • Assist the VP in establishing/maintaining sell-side research and sales relationships and expectations to ensure consistency with corporate guidance
  • Attend conferences and support senior management during road shows when required
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis
  • Track and analyze industry peer group performance metrics
  • Assist VP on other business development matters when required
  • Work closely with other Corporate departments (e.g. Finance, HR, Legal)
  • Manages Investor Relations Coordinator
 
Qualifications
 
  • Post-secondary education in geology, mining, business or other relevant field, or suitable combination of education and experience
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking or equivalent and ideally with mining experience at a leading firm and/or company
  • Strong financing understanding with an emphasis on capital markets and valuation methodologies
 
Other Requirements
 
  • Superior written communication and oral presentation skills with a particular strength in dealing with a wide variety of individuals at various levels within and outside of the organization
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to effectively manage priorities while meeting timelines
  • Creative, outgoing and intuitive personality with the ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail are critical

Major Materials Warehouse Technician - 7/7 Rotation

The role of the Major Material Warehouse Technician is responsible for the managing of all the major materials (fuel, oils, mill reagents, tires, drilling materials etc.) to support the mine operations. 

Senior Inventory Management Analyst - Relocation Required

The Senior Inventory Management Analyst leads the management of Rainy River Mine Inventory to sustain site operations. 

Warehouse Technician - 7/7 Rotation - No Camp - Relocation Required

The role of Warehouse Technician is to ensure the efficient operation of all warehouse activities. 

Lead Environment Technician - Relocation Required

As a member of the New Gold Rainy River team, the Lead Environmental Technician demonstrates commitment and compliance with company Health & Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility policies and procedures. 

Mine Superintendent - 14/14 Rotation - Camp & Travel

The role of Mine operations Superintendent is to oversee the safe and efficient extraction of ore through the supervision and control of mining department activities such as budgeting, planning staffing and cost control.  

Senior Underground Mine Engineer - Relocation Required

The Senior Mine Engineer will provide clarity and focus for the engineering group to achieve and surpass the mine’s safety and production targets and to add value to the operation. 

Construction & Engineering Superintendent

The Engineering & Construction Superintendent is expected to be a safety leader on site and thus will be required to demonstrate experience in executing work with a safety focus and an emphasis on human performance.

Senior Hydrogeologist/Water Resource Engineer

Groundwater monitoring, management and modeling is a critical component in Environmental management at New Afton.
